Job summary

Southern Oregon ESD is seeking an Educational Assistant with Basic Sign Language to support deaf or hard of hearing students in regular and special classrooms. You will work with trained interpreters, prepare materials, and assist teachers to promote inclusive education for Pre-K through 12th grade.

Responsibilities include evaluating student progress, delivering small-group instruction, and providing basic sign language interpretation as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Complete at least two sign language classes or equivalent experience with deaf/hearing-impaired individuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating student performance levels.
• Assist in instruction for deaf and hard of hearing students.
• Provide tutorial support to deaf and hard of hearing students as directed by the teacher.
• Provide basic interpretive support for sign language users as needed.
• Prepare instructional materials for assigned students.
• Support classroom operations and follow established policies.
