Job summary

Avamere Living in Gresham, OR seeks a part-time Support Services Provider for a Deaf and Deaf-Blind community. This role bridges communication barriers and supports residents’ independence with culturally and linguistically accessible services.

Responsibilities include coordinating interpreters, developing ISPs, guiding daily living activities, and advocating for residents’ accessibility rights within the facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education, social work, counseling or related field preferred, or equivalent knowledge of state regulations for assisted living communities.
• Exceptional fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with tactile sign language.
• Minimum of 1–3 years of relevant professional experience with elderly or disabled populations.
• Active CPR/BLS and state SSP certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee on-site sign language interpreters and captioning services.
• Develop, monitor and update individualized support plans with residents and nursing staff.
• Assist residents with daily living tasks and mobility through communication-access strategies.
• Advocate for residents’ rights to accessible care and educate staff on Deaf culture and communication methods.
