Job summary

O'Reilly Auto Parts seeks a Transportation Supervisor in Des Moines, IA to oversee the DC Transportation department, ensuring DOT compliance, staffing, training, and timely deliveries. You will supervise fleet operations, coordinate maintenance, and drive safety initiatives across the team.

This role requires knowledge of FMCSR, Hazardous Materials rules, and ELDs, plus strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate across departments and improve KPI outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of the FMCSR.
• Familiarity with Hazardous Materials Regulations, OOS criteria, and ELDs.
• Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to multitask and work well in a team environment.
• Adaptable to learning new programs to maximize fleet safety and performance.
• Interface with all levels of the DC organization.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Transportation department, including staffing, evaluating, disciplining, training, scheduling, and goal setting.
• Ensure driving team and fleet vehicles comply with DOT and company rules.
• Oversee DOT fleet vehicle maintenance per federal and corporate standards.
• Conduct and document driver training to ensure drivers understand functions and requirements.
• Communicate with O’Reilly DOT team to align with company goals.
• Plan for daily departures to meet scheduled times.
• Conduct monthly safety meetings.
• Coordinate with other departments for special deliveries and pickups.
• Notify driver hiring needs to maintain optimal DC team levels.
• Produce and submit all required reporting to corporate in a timely, accurate manner.
• Monitor, supervise, and report on fleet performance and KPIs.
• Be available 24 hours a day to department members.
• Foster professional relationships within Transportation team.
• Coordinate department efforts to run smoothly and in line with regulations.
• Perform additional activities as directed by Transportation Field Manager and Director of Fleet Operations.
• All other duties as assigned.
