Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a Security Officer to patrol hospital areas, respond to emergencies, and maintain life safety standards. You will investigate suspicious activity, de-escalate conflicts, and document incidents using security systems.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and 3+ years in security with 1+ year supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Minimum 3 years general security experience; 1+ year supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas and performs security-related tasks to maintain life safety standards.
• Investigates suspicious activity and reports hazards or unusual circumstances.
• Responds to emergencies, alarms, and non-emergency calls; provides first aid within training.
• Learns hospital security systems and responds to fire alarms during drills.
• De-escalates conflicts using verbal techniques to diffuse situations.
• Unlocks buildings after verifying identity and compliance with policies.
• Monitors traffic and interviews individuals involved in suspicious or illegal activities.
• Documents safety hazards, incidents, and criminal activities; reports to correct authorities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
