Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Houston, TX is hiring a welder/fitter for day shift with base pay of $23.00 per hour. You will coordinate welding settings, read blueprints, and ensure beads meet exact specifications.

The role requires forklift operation, reading measuring devices, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Full-time position with variable shifts (8/10/12 hours) depending on orders and season.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school, or 1–3 years welding experience.
• Read blueprints and drawings.
• Read and comprehend documents including safety and operating instructions.
• Communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small groups.
• Perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, fractions, percentages).
• Use power hand tools and drive a forklift.
• Read measuring devices (tape measure, protractor, micrometer).
• Lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate welder settings, gun speed, travel and gas flow per bead condition.
• Read a tape measure and blueprints to shop standards.
• Decide on adjustments or gun manipulation as needed.
• Determine repairs for pin holes and burn-through from welding.
• Train and teach welding procedures per manufacturing procedures.
• Operate overhead crane and lifting equipment.
• Maintain beads to specified shapes, sizes and penetrations.
• Maintain numerical and alphabetical sequencing.
• Support continuous improvement in the work area.
