Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking 5 Structural Welders (Journeyman levels 1–4) for the day shift, 6 am to 2:45 pm with a 45 minute lunch. The roles require welding with SMAW, GMAW and FCAW and the ability to access Navy installations using DBIDS/NAVSEA badges.

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED plus 2 years of related shipbuilding or ship repair experience, read weld gauges, and work with HY-80/HY-100 materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 2 years related ship building/repair experience.
• Proficient in SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding processes.
• Knowledge of HY-80 and HY-100 base metals and weld symbols.
• Able to read weld gauges and use hand tools.
• Capable of using oxy-acetylene torch and basic welding setup.
• Must be able to obtain Navy DBIDS/NAVSEA badges.

Responsibilities

• Weld using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW processes on various metals.
• Read weld gauges and verify weld quality to NDT standards.
• Set up, rig and operate welding tools and equipment.
• Work under supervision with adherence to 5S guidelines.
