Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, VA invites five Structural Welders (J1–J4) for the night shift (3pm–11pm) to support shipbuilding and repair in the steel shop.

Candidates must weld with SMAW, GMAW and FCAW, read weld gauges, use hand tools, and understand weld symbols; badge access to Navy installations may be required. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Should be able to weld using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
• Be able to hook up oxygen acetylene torch.
• Should be able to read weld gauges and able to use hand tools with close supervision.
• Should have knowledge of weld symbols.
• Must know standard item 1689 and the guide lines of 5 S.

Responsibilities

• Perform SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding in the steel shop.
• Work night shift 3pm-11pm and support shipbuilding and repair projects.

We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Steel Shop. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for 5 Structural Welders J1- J4 to work night shift 3pm- 11pm.

Must be able Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards by obtaining DBIDS and NAVSEA badges.

GUIDELINES FOR STRUCTURE WELDER

Should be able to weld using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
