Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking 5 Structural Welders (J1–J4) to work the night shift from 3pm to 11pm in the Steel Shop. Candidates must be able to access Navy installations by obtaining DBIDS and NAVSEA badges, and no security clearance is required.

Responsibilities include welding with SMAW, GMAW and FCAW, reading weld gauges, and using hand tools under supervision. This is an Equal Opportunity Employer and supports a diverse workforce.

Qualifications

• Should be able to weld using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW processes.
• Read weld gauges and use hand tools with close supervision.
• Knowledge of weld symbols; standard item 1689 and 5S guidelines.

We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Steel Shop. This position is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for 5 Structural Welders J1- J4 to work night shift 3pm- 11pm.

Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards by obtaining DBIDS and NAVSEA badges.

GUIDELINES FOR STRUCTURE WELDER

JOURNEYPERSON 1 (Welder)

• Should be able to weld using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
• Be able to hook up oxygen acetylene torch.
• Should be able to read weld gauges and able to use hand tools with close supervision.
• Should have knowledge of weld symbols.
• Must know standard item 1689 and the guide lines of 5 S.
