Job summary

LEAD Staffing in Hampton Roads, VA seeks an experienced Structural Welder to support shipyard operations. You will weld ship hull structures and components using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW, reading blueprints and weld symbols, and ensuring quality per codes and inspections.

Requires 3+ years in structural welding, shipyard background preferred, and the ability to pass qualification tests. Overtime and weekend work are possible within a shipyard environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of structural welding experience; marine/shipyard preferred.
• Proficiency in multiple welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW).
• Ability to pass welder qualification tests per applicable codes.
• Strong blueprint and weld symbol reading ability.
• HS diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on hulls, foundations, brackets and components.
• Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and engineering drawings.
• Maintain quality to codes, standards, and inspection requirements.
• Fit-up and tack weld assemblies prior to final welding.
• Operate grinding, cutting, and gouging equipment.
• Keep welding equipment and work area safe and clean.
