Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Full Time Staff Nurse for Northern State Prison located in Newark, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus for inmates in the New Jersey Department of Corrections.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the resident-patient including

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• CPR Certification required.
• License to practice in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of inmates.
• Performs assessments in initial intake, sick call, emergency situations and clinics.
• Works with health care professionals and security officers in a correctional setting.
• Identifies goals and implements nursing interventions per policy.
• Plans care and makes referrals based on assessments and policies.
• As team leader or charge nurse, delegates duties and guides care.

Education

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
