Job summary

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part-Time Staff Nurse for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center in Avenel, NJ. The RN will use the nursing process to address a range of health care needs within a correctional environment, guided by protocols and as a team leader when assigned.

The role requires NJ RN licensure, CPR certification, and a vehicle or alternative transportation due to multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in New Jersey.
• RN license in New Jersey.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of inmates, including adults and geriatrics.
• Demonstrates effective communication, respect, concern and courtesy in all interactions.
• Attends in-services and continuing education to maintain skills.
• Participates in education for inmates, security officers and health care team.
• Participates in in-service meetings and educational programs as arranged by supervisor.
