• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of residents within the correctional system.
• Performs assessments of resident-patients in various settings (intake, health care unit, sick call, emergencies, infirmary).
• Leads nursing care as team leader or charge nurse, delegating duties per skills and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of inmates.
• Performs assessments of resident-patients in a variety of settings (initial intake area, health care unit for sick call, emergency situations, housing, chronic care clinics and infirmary).
• Works with health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.
• Identifies resident-patient needs and plans nursing care with timely referrals and interventions.
• As team leader or charge nurse, delegates duties and guides the health care team.
