Job summary

Lexington Health Northeast Emergency Department is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to provide high-quality laboratory testing and analysis for inpatients and outpatients. The MLS will perform routine and specialty tests, ensuring accuracy to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and active MT/MLS certification; registry-eligible candidates may apply with certification within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• Active MT/MLS certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent.
• Registry eligible candidates may be considered if certification obtained within one year.
• Experience not required; substitution allowed with active MT/MLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated laboratory testing per procedures.
• Collect specimens; may perform venipunctures across age groups.
• Calibrate instruments and perform quality control checks.
• Review data, interpret results, and report abnormal findings.
• Train new staff and students; ensure safety and confidentiality.
