Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Custodian 2 for the Day Shift to maintain and clean the LSU Student Union facility. The role involves cleaning lobbies, restrooms, and common areas, plus event set-ups and floor care using industrial equipment.

Requires at least six months of custodial or related experience. The position operates Thursday to Sunday with pre-employment checks and essential status during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, grounds keeping, or food service work.

Responsibilities

• Cleans lobbies, bathrooms, hallways, meeting rooms, billiards area, and administrative area of the union by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and polishing.
• Mixes or blends cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary.
• 30% Responsible for set-ups and breakdowns associated with daily events in meeting rooms, lobbies, ballrooms, and exterior grounds.
• 25% Cleans, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial-sized mops and commercial-type floor machines.
• 20% Fills commercial floor machines with cleaning solutions of proper concentration, empties unused solution into the appropriate container.
• 20% Cleans floor machines and checks and recharges batteries.
• Washes, rinses, and dries industrial-size wet mops, dust mops, and commercial floor pads.
• Operates wet dry vacuuming carpet extraction equipment and other commercial equipment as required for cleaning and shampooing carpets.
• 10% Empties (exterior and interior) trash and recycling containers and transports waste material to outdoor refuse containers or recycling containers as needed.
• 10% Cleans, decontaminates, and deodorizes waste containers using proper materials according to label directions.
• 5% Performs other duties as may be assigned by Building Services supervisors, Managers, or other administrative personnel within the department.
