Job summary

Louisiana State University is hiring a Custodian 2 to join the day maintenance team. You will work on a custodial crew across various facilities, performing cleaning, waste handling, floor care, and event setup. This role requires physical activity and is designated emergency essential.

The position opens with a pay range per hour and requires at least six months of related experience along with valid U.S. work authorization. A thorough background check will be conducted prior to employment.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
• This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure.
• A physical evaluation based on the physical demands required.
• Background Check: An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
• All candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain that valid work authorization throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs housekeeping tasks, manual labor, and other activities necessary for the efficient operation of the campus across offices, classrooms, laboratories, residence hall lobbies, bathrooms, stairwells, elevators, hallways, and other areas.
• Empties trash and recycling containers, transports waste material to outdoor refuse or recycling containers; handles hazardous materials as required and decontaminates waste containers.
• Performs floor maintenance including cleaning, stripping, waxing, polishing floors, carpet cleaning and stain removal.
• Moves/rearranges office furniture and sets up tables, chairs, partitions, and related equipment for events and ceremonies.
• Washes building exteriors, windows, walls, fixtures, steps and sidewalks using appropriate equipment.
