ACLD is hiring a Day Habilitation Specialist for PWW East Islip in East Islip, NY. The role focuses on supporting adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a day habilitation setting, helping them pursue personal goals and independence.

Responsibilities include providing structure, addressing behavioral needs, assisting with personal care, and transporting participants to activities. A strong commitment to safety and training completion is required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years MR/DD experience OR Associate's or Bachelor's Degree OR 3 years related experience.
• Clean and valid NYS driver's license.
• Complete within 6 months of hire and maintain AMAP and SCIP trainings.
• Ability to assist with lifting and transferring an adult person.
• Must have flexibility to be reassigned to other programs and/or locations as needed.
• Prior experience as Caregiver or Direct Care Worker is a plus.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

In this position, you will:

We require:

• HS Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of M R/DD experience OR Associate's or Bachelor's Degree OR 3 years related experience
• Clean and Valid NYS driver's license
• Complete within 6 months of hire and maintain required trainings in AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) and SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention).
• The ability to assist with lifting and transferring an adult person.
• Must have flexibility to be reassigned to other programs and/or locations as needed.
• Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
