Job summary

Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD) seeks a Day Habilitation Specialist for Bridges Levittown in Levittown, NY. This regular full-time position offers $21.00–$22.00 hourly.

You will support adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities to become more self-sufficient, providing structure, emotional support, and assistance with daily activities as part of a compassionate team.

In this position, you will:

• Help program participants achieve/exceed their personal goals;
• Provide structure and emotional support;
• Assist in resolving behavioral issues;
• Help people supported with personal hygiene;
• Transport the people supported to and from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles.

We require:

• Clean, valid NYS Driver’s license
• High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of M R/DD experience OR Associate's or Bachelor's Degree OR 3 years related experience
• Must have flexibility to be reassigned to other programs and/or locations as needed
• Ability to communicate and understand in English; both verbally and in writing
• Complete within 6 months of hire and maintain required trainings in AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) and SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention).
• The ability to assist with liftingand transferring an adult person.
• Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus.
