Job summary

Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a Day Diesel Mechanic in Virginia Beach, VA. This full-time position focuses on inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of heavy equipment including sweepers, loaders, and backhoes.

You will perform preventive maintenance, follow safety procedures, and maintain documentation to support reliable fleet operations. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of hands-on shop experience with hydraulic, electrical, and air systems, and possess a valid

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 2 years hands-on shop experience with hydraulic, electrical, and air systems.
• Driver’s License is required.
• Must provide and maintain basic hand and diagnostic tools.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass MVR, background check, DOT physical, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Inspection: perform thorough inspections following safety protocols and lockout/tagout.
• Execution: carry out repairs and preventive maintenance per blueprints and torque specs.
• Equipment Operation: use diagnostic tools to identify problems on sweepers, loaders, backhoes.
• Material Handling: manage parts, lubricants, and fluids and dispose of used materials safely.
• Reporting: promptly report equipment issues, incidents, or safety concerns to management.
• Communication: clearly relay repair needs and status to operators and team members.
• Compliance & Documentation: complete service reports and safety checklists per policy.
• Adaptability & Problem Solving: diagnose issues and adapt repair approaches to minimize downtime.
• Attendance: maintain regular, on-time attendance and adherence to shift times.
