Job summary

Workcog Inc. seeks a seasoned Data Center Operations Leader to guide daily data center functions, engineering teams, and service delivery.

You will oversee rack installs, fiber/copper cabling, and incident response across hyperscale facilities, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years leading Network Engineering teams, strong stakeholder management, and experience with service delivery metrics.

Qualifications

• Hands-on data center work with fiber optics and structured cabling.
• Experience with OTDR, power meters, and cable testers for circuit testing.
• Proven leadership of Data Center Operations teams and stakeholder mgmt.
• Strong safety mindset with PPE, ESD, and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Experience coordinating onshore–offshore teams and meeting SLAs/KPIs.
• CCNA/JNCIA or equivalent networking certification.

Responsibilities

• Install server racks and network equipment.
• Connect switches and manage cabling (fiber and copper).
• Support rack moves, upgrades and decommissioning.
• Test new fiber and circuits with OTDR/power meters.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues; replace faulty hardware.
• Respond to outages and maintain clear shift handovers.

Job description

• Hands-on experience in fiber optics, structured cabling (including Cat6A), rack and stack, testing, and break-fix support.
• Proficiency with testing tools (OTDR, power meters, cable testers) and physical network troubleshooting (Layer 1).
• Experience using ticketing systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install server racks and network equipment.
• Connect switches.
• Manage, label, and route fiber optic and copper cabling.
• Support rack moves, upgrades, and decommissioning.

Network Testing

• Test newly installed fiber and network circuits using OTDR and power meters to verify quality and signal strength.
• Diagnose connectivity issues.
• Replace faulty hardware (cables, optics, switches).
• Respond to critical outages.

Maintenance

• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Clean fiber optic connectors.
• Inspect routing and support new build-outs.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow data center safety procedures.
• Use required PPE/ESD protection.
• Adhere to lockout/tagout protocols.
• Work with engineering, facility, and supply chain teams.
• Maintain ticket updates and provide clear shift handovers.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• Experience with liquid-cooled data center racks, barcode scanning, asset tracking, and large hyperscale data centers.
• BICSI Installer or Technician certification.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work on ladders/lifts.
• Ability to handle small components in warm data center environments.

Leadership & Management Requirements

• Must have experience in leading Data Center Operations.
• 5+ years of experience leading Network Engineering teams.
• Experience with Service Delivery, SLAs & KPIs.
• Strong Stakeholder Management & Escalation experience.
• Experience coordinating Onshore-Offshore teams.
• CCNA/JNCIA certification or equivalent experience.
