Job Summary

Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Washington DC – Hybrid at the Pentagon (2 days a week onsite)

Contract: 6‑month contract to full‑time permanent conversion

Pay: $50.00 – $60.00 hourly on contract (based on experience)

Clearance: US citizen able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance

We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to support multiple Oracle and PostgreSQL databases across both unclassified and classified environments. The role involves supporting CaaS, DevOps, Zero Trust, and custom software development initiatives, as well as contributing to a new data tagging effort.

Responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day Oracle and PostgreSQL DBA activities and special projects such as application rehosting migrations.
• Assist in managing and maintaining multiple Oracle and PostgreSQL database instances.
• Perform installation & upgrade of applications, databases, and tools including patching of the tech stack.
• Apply database and application performance tuning techniques for optimal performance.
• Support and maintain backup and recovery activities using Oracle RMAN.
• Recommend process improvements to increase productivity, reduce maintenance cycles, and improve quality delivery.
• Provide on‑call support to production environments when required, including some weekend support.
• Support and manage password resets for server and database accounts.
• Collaborate with functional and technical staff to meet timelines and deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• US citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of experience administering Oracle databases.
• 4+ years of SDLC experience (requirements definition, development, testing, or training).
• 2+ years experience administering Oracle WebLogic/Fusion Middleware.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud database instances.
• 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
• Direct functional experience with DoD business systems.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience administering DoD financial databases.
• Experience with DevOps platforms (Azure DevOps, GitLab, Atlassian Suite, Digital.ai).
• Experience with Qlik Sense and other business analytics tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
