Job summary

TrustedQA, Inc. is seeking a skilled SQL Server DBA to manage on-premise and AWS SQL Server environments with hybrid work arrangements. The role requires building and maintaining SQL Server instances, applying STIGs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on migrations and optimizations.

You will support backups, job scheduling, and security, while documenting procedures and participating in cloud migration plans with cloud SMEs, project managers, and IT colleagues.

Qualifications

• Systems-level 2016/2019/2022 SQL Server administration experience required.
• Experience with performance tuning and query optimization required.
• CompTIA Security+ certification required (must show proof of cert prior to interview).
• Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and SQL Server Profiler preferred.
• Experience with scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell) preferred.
• Experience with HA solutions for SQL including FCI and AAG a plus.
• Experience with migrating existing SQL Server databases to cloud-based (AWS) environments a plus.
• Experience with Rubrik, AWS RDS, Sybase, Oracle, and other RDBMS’ a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and administer SQL Server databases in on-premise and AWS cloud environments.
• Configure SQL Server to comply with DoD STIGs.
• Collaborate with systems, storage, networking, and web teams to resolve issues.
• Configure and test databases, accounts, mail, jobs, etc. with software engineers.
• Troubleshoot databases, schemas, and user accounts.
• Configure and recover database backups; perform daily checks of databases, backups, exports, jobs, and storage.
• Maintain team documentation incl. inventory, security plans, SOPs, STIG checklists.
• Assist with migration of government on-premise databases to cloud environments and track progress.

Job description

Position: SQL Server DBA

Team: DBA

Work Site: Patuxent River, MD

Work Location: Hybrid - Candidates arerequired to work onsite at PAX approximately 2 days per week

Essential Functions:

• Install, configure, upgrade, and administer SQL Server database engine, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and related products in on premise and AWS cloud environments.
• Configure SQL Server instances to ensure compliance to DoD STIGs.
• Work with systems administration, storage, networking and web teams to resolve connection and performance issues.
• Work with software engineers to configure and test databases, accounts, mail, jobs, etc.
• Troubleshoot databases, schemas, and user accounts.
• Configure and recover database backups.
• Perform daily checks of databases, backups, exports, jobs, and storage.
• Maintain team documentation, including inventory, security plans, SOPs, guides and STIG checklists.
• Assist with re-platforming and migration of government on-premise databases and schemas to cloud environments:
  • Communicate and work with cloud migration SMEs, system/web administrators, and data center personnel to verify and update database migration plan, specifications, actions, and tasking.
  • Create and maintain SQL Server database cloud migration documentation including detailed SOPs and checklists.
  • Adhere to cloud migration schedules.
  • Track, document, and provide progress on database migrations.
  • Report issues and risks to cloud project manager.

Education/Experience:

BS/BA or AA/AS degree and 7+ years related experience OR OR HS and 9 years relatedexperience.

Security Clearance: Active TS/SSBI clearance desired or active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SSBI. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.

Pay Range: The salary range for this role is 110,000 USD - 150,000 USD; however, TrustedQA considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
