Job description

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS and additional experience with SQL Server and Oracle databases.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of combined database administration experience across enterprise database platforms, with deep hands‑on experience supporting DB2 for z/OS, including database administration, performance tuning, subsystem upgrades, recovery, catalog maintenance, application integration, and z/OS infrastructure support.

Experience with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) integrated database infrastructure, financial management applications, and integrated application environment is highly desirable.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Equivalent professional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Experience

The candidate must possess 15+ years of combined database administration experience with the following platforms:

• DB2 for z/OS – Required / Primary
• SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012
• Oracle 10g and above
• Enterprise database administration and production support
• Database performance monitoring and tuning
• Database design, implementation, and support
• SQL code review and optimization
• Database recovery and disaster recovery processes

Preferred Experience

• Experience with FDOT integrated database infrastructure
• Knowledge of FDOT Financial Management applications
• Knowledge of the FDOT integrated application environment

Primary Responsibilities

The selected resource will primarily perform database planning, administration, operational support, and infrastructure activities across DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, and GIS environments.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform daily database operational and administration activities.
• Plan, design, implement, and support database structures.
• Monitor database performance and perform performance tuning.
• Develop and maintain database administration procedures and technical documentation.
• Perform SQL code reviews and recommend optimization strategies.
• Support database upgrades, maintenance, and infrastructure changes.
• Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
• Troubleshoot database and z/OS-related production issues.
• Assist with technical infrastructure implementation planning and coordination.
• Provide training and mentoring to other technical staff.
• Perform other database, infrastructure, and technical support activities as requested.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a senior/lead-level DBA with extensive DB2 for z/OS and mainframe experience, supported by strong SQL Server and Oracle administration skills.
