Job summary

SMX is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team for a Modernized Data Science Platform supporting a Federal customer. The role bridges business needs and technical solutions, focusing on requirements analysis, process improvement, and data-driven decisions for IT modernization.

The candidate will design Databricks-based solutions, analyze data models, promote code to production, and build models/reports from ERP data. Requires DoD Secret clearance and 6+ years experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6 years of related work experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• 5+ years hands-on development with Python and PySpark.
• Experience with Dev/Ops and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Army functional knowledge; elicitation, analysis, and documentation.
• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and discuss across teams.
• Knowledge of cloud architectures (AWS/Azure) and software engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Design new solutions using Databricks to meet business requirements.
• Analyze and modify existing data model solutions as needed.
• Promote code into production.
• Define and verify test cases to ensure solutions function as designed.
• Build data models and reports from ERP and legacy datasets.
