Job summary

SMX is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team to modernize a Federal data platform. The role focuses on bridging business needs with technical solutions, analyzing requirements, improving processes, and enabling data-driven decision-making in IT modernization efforts.

The ideal candidate will have a DoD clearance, a CS-related bachelor's degree, 6 years of experience, and hands-on Python/PySpark with Databricks. Strong collaboration and cloud knowledge are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6 years of related work experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Python and PySpark.
• Experience with Dev/Ops and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Familiarity with cloud architectures (AWS/Azure).
• Knowledge of database design (relational and non-relational).

Responsibilities

• Design new solutions using Databricks to meet business functional requirements.
• Analyze and design modifications to existing data model solutions.
• Promote code into production.
• Define test cases and verify test results to ensure solutions work as designed.
• Build data models and reports using ERP and legacy system datasets.
