Job summary
SMX is seeking a Data Scientist to bridge business needs with technical solutions for a Federal modernization program. You will design Databricks-based capabilities, build data models and reports from ERP/legacy systems, and promote code through CI/CD pipelines.
A DoD Secret clearance, a CS-related degree, and 6 years of experience are required. You will work across teams to elicit requirements, ensure data-driven decisions, and implement scalable data solutions in cloud environments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 6 years of related work experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Hands-on development with Python and PySpark (5+ years).
- Experience with Dev/Ops and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Army functional knowledge and experience in requirements elicitation and documentation.
- Familiarity with database design: relational and non-relational databases.
- Cloud architecture knowledge: AWS or Azure.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and autonomously.
- Knowledge sharing through code reviews and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design new solutions using Databricks to meet business requirements.
- Analyze and design modifications to existing data models.
- Promote code into production.
- Define test cases and verify results.
- Build data models and reports from ERP and legacy data sources.
