Job summary

SMX seeks a Data Scientist to join our team in a Modernized Data Science Platform for a Federal customer, bridging business needs with technical solutions. You will design solutions with Databricks, build data models from ERP data, and promote changes to production.

You will define test cases, ensure correctness, and create reports from legacy systems. A DoD Secret clearance, CS degree, and 6 years of experience are required, along with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6 years of related work experience.
• U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret security clearance required.
• Proficiency in Python and PySpark.
• Experience with Dev/Ops and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Army functional knowledge and experience in elicitation, analysis and documentation.
• Familiarity with database design and architecture; relational and non-relational.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and participate in discussions.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture: AWS/Azure.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and share knowledge through code reviews and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design new solutions using Databricks to deliver capabilities meeting business functional requirements.
• Analyze & Design modifications to existing data model solutions as needed.
• Promote code into production.
• Define test cases and verify test results to ensure solutions are functioning as designed.
• Build data models and reports using datasets from ERPs and legacy systems.
