Job summary

SMX is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team in support of a Modernized Data Science Platform for a Federal customer. The focus is on requirements analysis, business process improvement, and data-driven decision-making to support IT transformation and modernization activities.

The role involves designing solutions with Databricks, building data models from ERP datasets, and promoting code into production while collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret security clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6 years of related work experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• 5+ years hands-on development with Python and PySpark.
• Experience with Dev/Ops and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Army functional knowledge, requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation.
• Familiarity with database design and architecture (relational and non-relational).
• Ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
• Experience sharing knowledge through code reviews and documentation.
• Cloud knowledge (AWS/Azure).

Responsibilities

• Design new solutions using Databricks to deliver capabilities meeting business functional requirements.
• Analyze & Design modifications to existing data model solutions as needed.
• Promote code into production.
• Define test cases and verify test results to ensure solutions are functioning as designed.
• Build data models and reports using datasets from ERPs and legacy systems.
