Job summary

Mixpanel is seeking a Software Engineer III (L3) for the Data Runtime team to design and build scalable query execution systems. You will contribute to distributed, high-scale backends and collaborate with peers across Data Foundation, Query Serving, and Core Analysis to shape the compute layer powering our AI-first analytics.

The role emphasizes ownership, strong coding skills in Go/C++/Python, and delivering production-ready systems that scale across multiple regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating data infra/backend systems.
• Solid foundation in distributed systems or data infrastructure.
• Experience owning a project end to end: design, build, ship, production.
• Strong technical communication, especially in writing design docs and code reviews.
• Sound judgment in technical tradeoffs from operating systems in production.
• High ownership and accountability.
• A desire to work on infrastructure powering AI-first analytics for thousands of companies.

Responsibilities

• Design and build systems that execute every query at Mixpanel, across distributed environments.
• Contribute to technical design for complex distributed-systems projects from prototype to rollout.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and product teams on shared architecture and direction.
• Influence the compute layer that powers Mixpanel's AI-first products.
