Data & Reporting Analyst The Panther Group is seeking an experienced Data & Reporting Analyst to support an Information Technology Services Project Management Office (PMO) in Boston. This role will own PMO data governance, data quality, reporting, dashboard development, and system integration across a portfolio of programs and projects. This is a hybrid position in Boston, MA (3 days / week in office). Candidates must be able to reliably commute to this location. Please note: No C2C, Subcontracting or Visa Sponsorship of any kind is available for this position. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable analyzing data at the record level, building executive dashboards, troubleshooting data-quality issues, and partnering with Project and Portfolio Managers to improve data accuracy and reporting. This is a highly collaborative role with visibility to senior and executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Data Governance & Quality Establish and maintain PMO data standards, definitions, taxonomies, and quality rules.
- Monitor project and portfolio data for errors, duplicate records, missing information, anomalies, and inconsistent classifications.
- Perform root-cause analysis and work with Project Managers to correct and remediate data issues.
- Validate data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reporting readiness.
- Reporting & Dashboard Development Build and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports and dashboards using Power BI, ServiceNow, and Smartsheet.
- Develop consolidated reporting across systems including ServiceNow, Power BI, Smartsheet, and Jira.
- Build or maintain connectors, integrations, and APIs to automate data flow and reporting.
- Automate recurring reporting processes and continuously improve reporting templates, visualizations, and data models.
- Executive Reporting & Data Storytelling Analyze complex portfolio and project data to identify trends, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
- Translate findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for PMO and ITS leadership.
- Prepare executive-level scorecards, dashboards, presentations, and briefing materials.
- Review reports and dashboards for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and presentation quality before distribution.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Enablement Serve as a key resource for Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, PMO leadership, and technical teams on data and reporting matters.
- Gather reporting requirements and clarify data definitions and standards.
- Train and support team members on data-entry practices and data-quality expectations.
- Influence data cleanup and process improvements across teams without direct authority.
- Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and governance.
- Evaluate automation, emerging technologies, and AI-enabled tools that can improve analytics and reporting.
- Stay current on data governance, PMO analytics, and reporting best practices.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive experience in data management, reporting, analytics, and/or data governance.
- Experience supporting a PMO, IT organization, or complex matrixed environment.
- Strong experience with ServiceNow, including PPM, Power BI, Smartsheet, and Jira.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Query, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
- Experience building connectors, integrations, or APIs between enterprise systems.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, data profiling, data cleansing, metadata, and data standards.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including root-cause analysis.
- Experience creating executive-level reporting and presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Certifications
- Certifications in data management, Power BI/Power Platform, business analysis, Agile/PMP, AI, or Six Sigma are a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Higher education or another large, complex institutional environment.
- Experience working directly with Project and Portfolio Managers.
- Experience using AI tools to support data analysis, reporting automation, quality assurance, or governance.
