Delta is seeking an experienced and driven Data Privacy Specialist to join our Privacy Team. The Data Privacy Specialist will report to Delta’s Director - Privacy & Data Protection Officer and will be responsible for governance and operational activities that protect the privacy of Delta’s customers and employees by conducting privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and post production validations, initiating transfer impact assessments (TIAs), engaging with Delta’s business partners to incorporate privacy by design principles throughout the company including subsidiaries, conducting Delta business process audits, and coordinating third party audits of the Privacy Program. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of privacy laws and regulations, have strong experience with program or project management, and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Delta’s Director - Privacy and Data Protection Officer with the governance and operations of Delta’s data privacy program.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and transfer impact assessments (TIAs) for projects involving personal data processing.
  • Partner with Delta business units including subsidiaries to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate privacy risks and ensure that privacy is considered in the design of all business processes and projects.
  • Coordinate third party audits of Delta’s Privacy Program compliance.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, law, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in privacy, compliance, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Experience in conducting privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and transfer impact assessments (TIAs).
  • Experience with incorporating privacy by design principles in the design process of processes, digital products, and services.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex privacy concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Hands-on experience with technology beyond Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in implementing privacy policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

Privacy certifications, such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT).
