Job summary

Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes is recruiting a Data Platform Manager to own strategy, architecture, and the data foundation for trusted data products, analytics, and AI across Orthopedics. You will lead a modern lakehouse initiative using Databricks and cloud services, establishing scalable, reusable data capabilities and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Information Systems or related field preferred.
• 6+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience leading design and modernization of a data platform or lakehouse and translating strategy into executable roadmaps.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Databricks, PySpark, Spark SQL, Python, SQL, Delta Lake and cloud data services (Azure and/or AWS).
• Experience designing reusable ingestion and data pipeline frameworks and orchestration with dbt, Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue or similar.
• Knowledge of data architecture and modeling (dimensional modeling, star and snowflake schemas).
• Experience implementing data observability, CI/CD and production-readiness practices for distributed data teams.
• Experience leading distributed teams and managing external vendors against architecture standards.

Responsibilities

• Own and implement the Data Platform and Data Foundation strategy, target architecture, roadmap and engineering standards.
• Lead the design and evolution of a scalable Databricks lakehouse with medallion architecture and cloud-native services.
• Design, build and scale reusable ingestion and data pipelines (batch and streaming), including source onboarding and data quality controls.
• Establish platform engineering standards for data modeling, testing, CI/CD, security and cost efficiency.
• Design and implement data governance and certification workflows with ownership, lineage and policy controls.
• Implement end-to-end data observability, monitoring and incident management.
• Enable analytics and AI teams with governed, reusable data and alignment with Enterprise AI Platform.
• Provide governance for business separation and transition activities to protect continuity.
• Translate business needs into platform capabilities with delivery roadmaps and execution plans.
• Lead internal engineers and partners; review solution quality, dependencies and risks.
