Job description

Join to apply for the Data Librarian role at World Resources Institute.

This is a hybrid position requiring 8 days/month in the office based in Washington DC. Existing work authorization is required at application submission; WRI cannot sponsor visas. To be eligible in the US, you must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia at the start of employment.

About the program:

The Research, Data and Impact team (RDI) fosters research excellence. The Research Integrity team oversees peer review and research quality. The WRI Library provides access to research materials for the entire network.

Job highlight:

You will integrate equity into your work, reporting to the Director of Library Services, collaborating with Data Lab and Research Integrity staff. You will develop and implement research data management workflows, work with researchers to promote data literacy, and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

What you will do:
  1. Service Design and Development (50%)
  • Develop metadata standards for data discovery
  • Maintain data quality, integrity, and security standards
  • Organize and catalog data assets
  • Assist researchers with security and compliance requirements
  1. Development and Training (30%)
  • Build relationships with research community
  • Stay updated on data management technologies
  • Deliver training on data practices
  • Guide on data repositories and access
  1. Service Support (20%)
  • Optimize data workflows
  • Support researchers with cloud storage
  • Communicate project updates
What you will need:
  • Bachelor’s in library science or related field; relevant experience accepted
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in research data management and curation
  • Knowledge of FAIR and CARE principles
  • Familiarity with data ontologies, APIs, Python, SQL
  • Experience with data analytics tools
  • Experience in research data management programs
  • Knowledge of open science practices
  • Experience with open data catalogs (CKAN, DCAT)
  • Fluency in English
  • Work authorization required

Potential salary: $69,000–$78,000 USD, based on experience.
