Job summary

Genentech is seeking a Principal Data Innovation Specialist (RWD) to identify, prototype, and scale novel methods for transforming data use across product development. You will explore AI, semantic integration, and knowledge graphs, collaborating with scientists, engineers, and partners to design proofs-of-concept and assess long-term feasibility.

This role reports to the Data Innovation Lead and requires curiosity, strong technical grounding, and a learning-oriented mindset to deliver

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field with 6+ years in data engineering, data science or healthcare innovation.
• Proven success implementing AI pilots with multi-agent architectures and engineering frameworks.
• Proficient with agile development and innovation lifecycles; experienced evaluating data platforms, APIs, or partnerships.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent decision-making across technical and strategic areas.

Responsibilities

• Prototype, validate, and scale AI capabilities, focusing on multi-agent development.
• Lead data engineering to design and optimize scalable data pipelines for unstructured and multi-modal data.
• Drive analytics projects exploring novel data types, agent-driven workflows, and knowledge graph integrations.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product teams to pilot data innovations in clinical development.
• Develop low-/no-code analytics platforms to democratize multi-modal data access.
• Mentor peers on emerging data tools, agent architectures, and innovation methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations (HIPAA, GDPR).
