Job summary

Grant Thornton is seeking a Data Transformation & Governance Associate to help embed governance, quality, and standards across acquired-company data integration, including unstructured content from mail, storage, collaboration platforms, and line-of-business apps.

You will work with governance leads, data stewards, analytics, and security stakeholders to ensure data migration, archival, and analytics enablement are organized, traceable, and compliant with enterprise standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, data integration, or related enterprise tech roles
• Experience supporting data governance, data quality, data documentation, data migration, integration, archival, analytics, or transformation activities
• Exposure to unstructured content environments (mail, file storage, collaboration platforms) in addition to structured data
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, CS, Eng or related field; certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain data governance documentation supporting acquired-company integration, including standards, ownership, stewardship trackers, and performance metrics
• Support data transformation governance activities across migration, integration, archival, and analytics enablement workstreams
• Build-out inventory of data assets including structured data and unstructured content
• Record content attributes (category, sensitivity, ownership, purpose, volume, disposition) and keep up to date
• Prepare summaries of content categories and handling direction for migration planning
• Assist with review of unstructured content for regulated or confidential material with documented findings
• Maintain ownership records for data domains and track unassigned ownership
• Maintain approval records for new or changed data uses and external sharing
• Flag unowned data for review and escalation
• Apply retention categories to data and content, escalate unclear items
• Support disposal by schedules and approvals, capture evidence of completion
• Check legal holds ahead of disposal and maintain hold records
• Document retention exceptions and extensions when needed
• Capture data governance decisions and readiness status for audit and advisory work streams
• Promote consistent governance through documentation and enterprise standards
• Identify opportunities to improve templates, trackers, and repeatable governance support processes
• Other duties as assigned
