Job summary

Gordon Food Service in Atlanta offers a 12-week paid Data Engineering internship to work on the Data Platform. You will architect, optimize, and maintain data pipelines, implement CDC with Python/SQL on GCP, and automate monitoring and alerting.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile setting to onboard sources and prepare analytics-ready datasets. Ideal candidates are university students in a computer-related field, US-authorized to work, with a 3.0+ GPA, seeking hands-on

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related fields.
• Must be authorized to work in the US.
• Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to hands-on data engineering initiatives across the GFS Data Platform.
• Architect, optimize, and maintain robust data pipelines and CDC processes using Python, SQL, and GCP.
• Automate repetitive data platform tasks and assist in implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in an agile environment to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Onboard new enterprise data sources into the GCP data lake and manage analytics-ready datasets.

• Working alongside our IT department team that serves our customers, employees, and partners across North America and Canada.
• Collaborating with other Gordon Food Service interns and employees in the following areas: Communications Finance Accounting Human Resources IT Marketing & Merchandising Supply Chain Sales.

Build a Career:

In the Data Engineering department by:

• The intern will contribute to hands-on data engineering initiatives across the GFS Data Platform: Architect, optimize, and maintain robust data pipelines and Change Data Capture (CDC) processes using Python, SQL, and GCP infrastructure.
• Automate repetitive data platform tasks and assist in implementing proactive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional business stakeholders and IT teams in an agile environment to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Onboard new enterprise data sources into the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data lake and manage analytics-ready datasets.
