Job summary

State of North Carolina’s Office of the Auditor offers a Data Engineering Intern position located at the Raleigh headquarters. You will gain hands-on experience building data pipelines and supporting audit and oversight activities through real projects on the Data Engineering Team.

The internship focuses on ETL development, data quality checks, and integrating diverse data sources, with exposure to automation, scalability, and performance optimization for public-sector analytics.

Qualifications

• Rising senior or graduate student majoring in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Experience with Python, SQL or similar programming languages
• Experience with Git for collaborative development
• Experience or familiarity with Spark preferred but not required
• Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure or AWS for data storage and compute preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience by working on projects on the Data Engineering Team.
• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes that transform raw data into structured, reliable datasets for downstream analysis.
