Job summary

The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to join the Data Analytics Team in Raleigh. You will gain hands-on experience building and optimizing ETL pipelines and data infrastructure to support audit activities.

As a rising senior or graduate student in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or Mathematics, you will work with Python, SQL, Git, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Rising senior or graduate student with minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Experience with Python, SQL or similar programming languages.
• Experience with Git for collaborative development.
• Spark experience preferred but not required.
• Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure or AWS for storage/compute preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure to support audit and oversight activities.
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes transforming raw data into structured datasets.
• Implement data quality checks and improve data workflows.
• Integrate diverse data sources to support downstream analysis.
