Job summary

The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to join the Data Analytics Team in Raleigh. You will gain hands-on experience by working on projects focused on building and optimizing ETL processes, data pipelines, and data quality checks that support audit activities.

You will learn data engineering best practices, automation, scalability, and performance optimization while contributing to real-world objectives.

Qualifications

• Rising senior or graduate student in CS, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field with minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Experience with Python, SQL or similar programming languages.
• Experience with Git for collaborative development.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes to transform raw data into structured datasets.
• Build and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure to support audit and oversight activities.
• Implement data quality checks and improve data workflows.
• Contribute to the integration of diverse data sources for downstream analysis.
