Job summary

The Office of the State Auditor in Raleigh invites a Data Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience with our Data Analytics Team. You will contribute to building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data infrastructure to support audit and oversight activities.

Qualifying students are rising seniors or graduates in CS/Data Analytics/Statistics/Mathematics with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, familiar with Python, SQL, and Git, with Spark and cloud exposure a plus.

Qualifications

• Rising senior or graduate student pursuing a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Experience with Python, SQL or similar programming languages.
• Experience with Git for collaborative development.
• Spark experience preferred but not required.
• Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure or AWS preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure to support audit analytics.
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes transforming raw data into structured datasets.
• Implement data quality checks and improve data workflows.
• Integrate diverse data sources for downstream analysis.
• Support automation, scalability, and performance optimization in data engineering projects.
