Job summary

CGS is seeking a Data Engineer to support a growing Data Analytics and BI platform for federal customers. You will join an Agile team designing and building data pipelines, ETL processes, and data visualizations to turn complex data into actionable insights.

The role emphasizes collaboration with researchers, designers, PMs, and engineers, plus opportunities for professional growth within CGS. The ideal candidate brings strong Python/SQL/SAS skills, experience with Tableau or PowerBI, and

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
• 7+ years of IT experience with large data sets and models.
• Experience building data pipelines from varied data sources.
• Proficiency in ETL development and validation steps.
• Data manipulation using Python, R, SQL, or SAS.
• Strong knowledge of big data tools and storage technologies.
• Understanding of Agile principles and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Git.
• Experience creating and consuming APIs.
• Knowledge of DHS standards is a plus.
• Experience with Python is a plus.
• Ability to create visualizations with Tableau or PowerBI.
• Shell scripting on Linux; translate business/technical requirements into data strategies.

Responsibilities

• Complete development across data pipelines to store and provision data to consumers.
• Contribute as an Agile/Scrum team member following best practices.
• Write code to ensure performance and reliability of data extraction and processing.
• Support continuous automation for data ingest.
• Advocate lean‑agile engineering with API‑first design, CI, and automated testing.
• Collaborate with program management and engineers on evolving requirements.
• Promote customer service excellence, innovation, and teamwork.
• Work with cross‑functional teams including researchers, designers, PMs, and engineers.
