Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Data Engineer II in Aliso Viejo, CA to shape data platforms for PlayStation Cloud Streaming. You’ll build JVM-based data tools, stream processing with Flink, and APIs delivering real-time insights across a distributed infra.

Collaborate with BI to translate requirements into actionable analytics, while improving reliability and scalability of the data pipeline across time zones and teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of software development and backend engineering in high-throughput, highly available systems.
• Proficiency in JVM languages (Kotlin/Scala/Java) and Python.
• Experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark and SQL; REST/JSON/gRPC/WebSocket tech.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement middleware and backend systems for high throughput and load.
• Develop and maintain stream processing with Flink and scalable ETL jobs.
• Optimize data pipeline performance, reliability and monitoring.
• Support migration of on-prem Kafka to new cloud technologies.
• Analyze requirements and contribute to archival and BI integration.
• Collaborate with BI and product teams to turn data into insights.
• Work with remote teams across time zones and channels.
