Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) in California is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Real‑Time Analytics Platform. You will architect and build scalable distributed data systems powering analytics and data‑driven experiences across PlayStation, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to drive architecture and reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years designing and building large-scale distributed systems with real-time data processing or data platform engineering.
Strong proficiency in Python; Scala experience is beneficial for supporting platform components.
Hands-on experience with streaming technologies (Flink, Spark Structured Streaming) and real‑time analytics.
Production experience with high-performance analytics databases (ClickHouse, Druid) and data pipelines (Kafka, MSK).
Experience applying AI/ML to automate workflows, improve data pipelines, and boost productivity.
Demonstrated leadership: architecture ownership, mentoring engineers, guiding initiatives across teams.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed data systems powering real-time analytics and data-driven applications across PlayStation.
Lead architecture and evolution of the Real-Time Analytics Platform, improving scalability, reliability, and developer productivity.
Own platform capabilities end-to-end from design through production operations and lifecycle management.
Build and optimize distributed data services using Flink, Spark Streaming, ClickHouse, and Druid for low-latency workloads.
Collaborate with Data Engineering to integrate batch and streaming workloads within lakehouse architectures.
Apply AI-powered capabilities to automate workflows and enhance platform operations.
Set technical standards and best practices for distributed systems, streaming, data modeling, and platform reliability.
Mentor engineers, review designs, and raise the technical bar across teams.
Partner with Product, Infrastructure, Security, and Platform Engineering to align strategy and delivery.
Resolve complex production challenges and strengthen platform reliability through proactive incident response.
