Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Data to join the Data Platform team in San Diego. You will help design and evolve the Real-Time Analytics Platform (RTAP) for high-throughput, low-latency analytics and stream processing at PlayStation scale.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Security, and other teams to deliver scalable data platform capabilities aligned with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python; Scala beneficial for legacy components.
• Hands-on experience with Flink, Spark Structured Streaming, or similar.
• Experience with ClickHouse, Druid, or OLAP databases; query optimization.
• Experience with event-driven pipelines using Kafka or MSK.
• Experience applying AI/ML to automate workflows and improve pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed data systems for real-time analytics.
• Lead architecture and evolution of RTAP, improving scalability and reliability.
• Own platform capabilities end-to-end from design to production operations.
• Build data services with Flink, Spark Streaming, ClickHouse, Druid for low-latency workloads.
• Collaborate with data engineering to integrate batch and streaming workloads.
• Develop AI-powered capabilities to automate engineering workflows and improve productivity.
• Mentor engineers and set technical standards for reliability and scalability.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define long-term technical strategy.
