Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment in Aliso Viejo, CA is hiring a Data Engineer II to build and maintain scalable data platforms for PlayStation. You will develop JVM-based services in Kotlin/Scala/Java, create Flink jobs, and expose real-time data insights for product and BI teams.

You will collaborate across distributed teams, drive data-driven decisions, and help evolve our cloud streaming data pipeline using modern tooling in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in software development and backend engineering for high-throughput, available systems.
• Proficient in JVM languages (Kotlin/Scala/Java) and Python.
• Experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark, and SQL.
• Knowledge of REST, JSON, gRPC, and WebSockets.
• Experience with AWS at large scale including OpenSearch, MSK, and EKS is a plus.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement middleware and backend systems capable of handling high throughput and load.
• Develop and maintain stream processing jobs using Flink and ETL jobs for data insights.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and monitoring of the data pipeline stack.
• Support migration of on-prem Kafka to cloud technologies.
• Analyze functional or business requirements and contribute to architectural decisions.
