Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking a Data Engineer to build and operate data pipelines that support AI, ML and BI initiatives across the enterprise. You will translate complex data stories into scalable solutions.

Ideal candidates have a STEM degree, 8 years of related experience, and hands-on Python, SQL, and Databricks experience in AWS environments, with ETL tooling familiarity; leadership is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM related field or equivalent.
• Eight years of related experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and Databricks
• Experience working in an AWS environment is highly preferred
• Familiarity with ETL tools such as Ab Initio, Informatica, or comparable technologies
• Prior experience leading a technical team or serving as a team lead is a plus
• Highly proficient use of Cloud platforms, programming languages, and modern software engineering practices
• Ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace and release in small batches
• Demonstrated domain expertise and proactive problem solving

Responsibilities

• Build and operationalize complex data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and data cleansing/quality solutions.
• Design complex data solutions
• Perform analysis of complex sources to determine value and include in analytics
• Incorporate data governance, security and quality into data products
• Collaborate across teams to support delivery and educate end users
• Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for complex defects
• Test data movement, transformation code, and data components
• Perform other duties as assigned
