Job summary

Amazon in Austin, TX is seeking a data engineer to design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines moving data from production systems into Redshift and data lakes. You will develop ETLs, model data for analytics, and empower teams with self-serve reporting and dashboards for leadership.

You'll collaborate with product, engineering, and BI teams, mentor peers, and help scale data infrastructure to support Amazon's decision-making across business units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
• 3+ years of data engineering experience
• 3+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using ETL/ELT processes experience
• 3+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using data modeling experience
• Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support data warehouse / data lake infrastructure using AWS big data stack, Python, Redshift, QuickSight, Glue/lake formation, EMR/Spark/Scala, Athena etc.
• Develop and manage ETLs to source data from various systems and create unified data model for analytics and reporting.
• Use BI and visualization software (e.g., QuickSight) to develop dashboards for senior leadership.
• Enable self-serve analytics and support ad-hoc reporting.
• Understand data sources and determine when/how to use data to solve business problems.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and BI teams to meet analytics needs.
• Prioritize multiple requests and manage workload effectively.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver results.
• Mentor engineers and foster positive team culture.
