Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build and deploy data solutions that support AI, ML and business intelligence across the enterprise. You will translate data stories into scalable pipelines and collaborate with analytics teams to contextualize data for insights.

You will apply data governance and security practices, work with cloud platforms, and contribute to a robust analytics landscape while delivering reliable, well-documented data products and solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM related field or equivalent.
• Six years of related experience.
• 3+ years in a data engineer role, with additional IT/engineering experience totaling 7+ years.
• 2+ years of ML/AI experience with Python.
• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google; preferably AWS).
• Example of AWS core services: S3, IAM, Lambda, Secrets Manager, EC2.
• Deployed production apps with large language models (agents, prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning).
• Proficient use of Cloud platforms, programming languages, and software engineering practices.
• Ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace; decomposing work into small batches.
• Domain expertise and the ability to understand technical concepts and systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to interact with team and business partners.
• Leadership - intermediate leadership with self-motivation for growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Build and operationalize complex data solutions; apply transformations and data quality measures.
• Design data solutions.
• Analyze sources to determine value and data to include in analytics.
• Incorporate data governance, security and quality.
• Collaborate across teams to support delivery and educate end users on data products.
• Perform data and system analysis, and resolve defects of moderate complexity.
• Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
