Job summary

Travelers in Hartford is seeking a Data Engineer I (AWS, Python, GenAI) to build and operationalize data pipelines that empower analytics across the enterprise. Hybrid work arrangement supports collaboration with teams in CT and MN.

You will design, test, and deploy data solutions that enable AI/ML, governance, and data quality. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential as you partner with product and analytics teams to deliver reliable data products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related STEM field.
• 6+ years of related experience; 3+ years in a data engineer role.
• 2+ years of ML/AI experience with Python.
• Experience with AWS cloud services (S3, IAM, Lambda, Secrets Manager, EC2).
• Deployed production applications with large language models (agents, prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning).
• Strong problem solving, debugging and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and operationalize complex data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing/quality solutions.
• Design data solutions and analyze sources to determine value.
• Collaborate across teams to support data products and educate end users.
• Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
• Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for defects.
