Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer to build and sustain the POTFF Enterprise Data and Analytics data foundation.

You will acquire, cleanse, and prepare data from government sources, design scalable pipelines, and enforce data quality and governance under IL5 requirements. You will collaborate with data scientists and government personnel to deliver analysis-ready datasets and support NLP/LLM use cases, with opportunities for growth in a DoD-focused

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or computing discipline with coursework or professional application in programming, databases, and quantitative analysis.
• Minimum of three years of professional experience in data engineering, database development, or data pipeline development.
• Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and Python or a comparable language used for data engineering.
• Experience building and operating data pipelines, including ETL/ELT design, data modeling, data quality checks, and version control (Git).
• Ability to communicate clearly with analysts and non-technical stakeholders and to document technical work for continuity.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines on the government stack for batch processing.
• Fuse disparate data sources into curated, analysis-ready datasets.
• Implement data quality controls, lineage documentation, and performance tuning; monitor workloads and resolve failures.
• Develop and maintain data models, data dictionaries, metadata, and transformation logic under version control.
• Prepare and curate text and unstructured data for NLP/LLM use cases.
• Support integration of curated data products into visualization tools and deployment into workflows, including basic MLOps.
• Apply DoW IL5, HIPAA, and Privacy Act requirements and implement data access controls.
• Collaborate with Government personnel to identify data sources and translate analytical requirements.
• Provide data engineering expertise to Data Scientists and Senior Data Scientists.
