Job summary

SMX is seeking a Data Science Consultant to support our Army Client. You will design solutions using Databricks and Palantir Foundry, build data models from ERP data, and translate business requirements into technical specifications.

Qualifications include 2+ years of hands-on development, proficiency in SQL/Python/Pyspark, and familiarity with data engineering/science/analytics. The role requires an Active Secret Clearance and independent, cross-functional work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands on development experience.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python and Pyspark.
• Experience working in data engineering, data science and data analytics. Note that this is not a Cloud Full Stack developer role.
• Familiarity with Databricks.
• Familiarity with database design and architecture; relational and non-relational databases
• Ability to work cross-functionally, and participate in discussions
• Knowledge of cloud architecture: commercial cloud vendors (AWS/Azure)
• Competence with software engineering tools and processes (estimation, issue tracking, version control, debugging, etc.)
• Proven ability to work independently on assigned tasks without any supervision.
• Proven experience in knowledge sharing (i.e., code reviews, solid documentation)
• Driven, self-directed personality
• Strong sense of mission and commitment to making a difference
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering
• Active Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

• Design new solutions using Databricks (SQL, Python, Pyspark) and Palantir Foundry to deliver capabilities meeting business functional requirements.
• Design modifications to existing data model solutions as needed.
• Define test cases and verify test results to ensure solutions are functioning as designed.
• Build data models and reports using datasets from ERPs and legacy systems.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and users to determine reporting requirements and convert business requirements into technical specifications.
